A political action committee supporting Michele Bachmann debuted an ad this week that compares the Minnesota congressman to Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.


The ad notes that “the establishment sports guys love to hate Tim Tebow: he’s not smart enough, his mechanics are no good, he’s not accurate enough – still, he just keeps winning.” The ad goes on to argue that Tebow makes sports fans “feel guilty” because he doesn’t “drink, cuss, smoke, or kick opponents when they’re down” and because he is a born-again Christian. …

'Tebowing' Teens Suspended

As if Tebow didn't have enough unnecessary controversy surrounding him, though, there's a story coming out of a New York high school, where a group of teens were suspended for Tebowing in their school's hallway.

The logic for the suspensions? The students were clogging up the hallways.

Tebowing, in case you didn't know, involves going to one knee in a prayer-like fashion during normal, daily activities. And in this case, screaming "TE-BOWWWW! TEEEE-BOWWWW!"

Perry Wants to Be 'Tim Tebow of Iowa Caucuses'

SIOUX CITY — Rick Perry says he wants to be the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses.

At Thursday's debate in Iowa — the last before voters in the state vote Jan. 3 — Perry said that, like the Denver Broncos quarterback, he's been underestimated.

Perry has struggled in the debates, and in one he paused awkwardly, unable to remember the third federal agency he would dismantle if elected.

But he said Thursday night he's, in his words, "kind of getting to where I like these debates."

Perry said if he becomes the GOP nominee, he and Democratic President Barack Obama "will get it on."

While his passing efficiency reverted from last week’s positive performance, Bronco Fans and Tebow entusiasts alike are rejoicing as the spirited quarterback led his team back in the fourth quarter and overtime to defeat the Chicago Bears, pushing the Denver record this season with Tebow as a starter to 7 and 1.

Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater’s 59-yard field goal with 2 seconds left in regulation tied the score, and Prater’s 51-yarder with 8:34 left in overtime confirmed the 13-10 win over the Bears.

After failing to score on their first 11 possessions, the Broncos erased a 10-0 deficit in the final 2:08 of regulation, first with a scrambling Tebow pass to Wide Receiver Demaryius Thomas in the endzone, then with Prater’s kick following a Tebow drive that began with 58 seconds left on the clock.

During overtime the Bears won the crucial toss and were in field goal range to end the game, but Chicago running back Marion Barber fumbled the football at the Broncos 34 and Elvis Dumervil recovered.

Tebow finished the game with a 68.3 passer rating which his critics will chastise, but growing nation of fans ignore.

To the diminishing group of doubters, Mike Klis of The Denver Post puts it best:

“It’s never too late for Tebow Time.

There is no antidote, no potion for Tebow Magic. The Broncos’ defense will force a fumble. The kicker will be true from beyond 50 yards. Receivers who were struggling all game with the drops will suddenly make superb catches.”

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - About the same time we show up to meet 8-year-old Blake Appleton, so does his former kindergarten teacher, with books in hand.

Everyone seems to know just how precious time is for Blake, especially his mother, Miranda.

"Without treatment, he my only have 6 months," said Miranda Appleton.

If you think little Blake doesn't realize mom is talking about how long he has to live, you're wrong. As unbelievable as it may sound, his mom tells us not only does he understand that he is very sick with brain cancer and has a zero chance of recovery, but he also seems to want desperately to help his mother accept his fate.

Miranda tells us of the day Blake told her he no longer wanted to be treated for cancer.

"We're in the restroom of all place, and he starts to cry. I asked him why he was crying, and he told me, 'Mommy, I don't want you to be unhappy with me, but I don't want to do anymore chemo. I can't handle it anymore.'"

Blake acknowledges that his reasons are private, but during our time with him, we learn he is happy to finally be out of bed, playing, laughing, and not in a hospital.

And Miranda tells us, after long talks with his doctors, he told them the same.

Doctors diagnosed Blake with a brain tumor in 2008, and after two incredibly misleading and painfully temporary remissions, years of chemotherapy and surgery, the cancer came back with a vengeance, spreading to his spine.

Doctors told his mother and Blake that it is now untreatable.

Miranda tells us, "I don't have time to cry. It might be a moment I'm missing with him."

And one of those moments has to do with Blake's love of Tim Tebow and football. He proudly showed us a football ball signed by the former Florida Gator and current Denver Broncos quarterback. He then he proudly explained how Tim Tebow called him on December 1st and what the two discussed.

Blake says, "He told me he was going to meet me. That's about it!!"

So will Tebow make a visit? Maybe.

But in the meantime, we asked this young boy, who seems to be wise beyond his eight years, what his Christmas wish might be, bracing ourselves for a wish possibly unattainable.

But instead, we got, "More shoes!"

We're not certain how Tim Tebow heard of Blake, but if you caught Tebow in a post-game interview this past Sunday, you would have seen him tell a reporter his most memorable moment of the week was talking with Blake Appleton.

Anti-Christian Bigots Prey on Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow’s success as the quarterback of the Denver Broncos has done little to silence his critics who believe that his faith in Jesus Christ has no business on the football field. It doesn’t matter how many touchdown passes he throws or how many games he wins because Tebow will always be a lightning rod for anti-Christian bigots.

It’s become something of a sport to attack Christians in this nation. In recent days a cross was removed from a Christian chapel on an Army base because it violated regulations. Symbols of the Christmas season have been removed from public squares and public schools because they might offend non-Christians. And in Washington, D.C., Christian teenagers were forced to pray in a gutter after police told them it was illegal to pray on a sidewalk outside the Supreme Court.

Hollywood spews out reprehensible anti-Christian propaganda wrapped in the guise of family-friendly entertainment – indoctrinating children to various and sundry lifestyles and beliefs. The music industry relishes artists who denigrate faith and traditional families. Our taxpayer-funded museums host religious exhibits smeared in elephant dung.

And that brings us to the National Football League and the attacks on Tebow.

There aren’t many superstars for evangelical kids to admire – but Tebow is one of those guys. He’s an athlete who “walks the walk.” He’s passionate about his relationship with Jesus Christ. He prays. He studies his Bible. And he also wins football games.

And for that – he’s been subjected to ridicule.

Stephen Tullock, a linebacker for the Detroit Lions, personified the anti-Christian attacks when he mocked Tebow after sacking the quarterback. As Tebow picked himself up off the gridiron, Tullock started “Tebowing” – a mocking prayer on bended knee.

“I told a friend of mine that I might have a couple sacks this game and if I get him, I going to Tebow it,” Tulloch told the Denver Post.

There was no outrage – no editorials of condemnation. There were no calls for religious tolerance – nothing but silence from the chattering class.

Imagine for just a moment if Tebow had been a Muslim. Imagine Tullock sacking the quarterback and then pulling out a prayer rug and offering a mocking prayer toward Mecca. Imagine that.

But the attacks on Tebow started long before he started playing professional football. NBC Sports reported on an incident that occurred at a Scouting Combine. Tebow suggested the group pray. Another player told him to “shut the f*** up.”

Former Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer told the Daily Mail, “I wish he’d just shut up after a game and go hug his teammates.”

A particular disappointment has been the criticism levied against Tebow by his fellow Christians.

“It seems Tebow might help himself and the kingdom by getting off his knees, taking the verses off of his face, and being faithful to Christ without the public acts like all the other Christians in the NFL have done for decades,” wrote Anthony Bradley, an associate professor of theology and ethics at The Kings College in New York City, in World Magazine.

Perhaps the good professor would suggest Christians enter restaurants through the back door and use separate drinking fountains?

“Put down the boldness in regards to the words and keep living the way you’re living,” opined Kurt Warner in a Washington Post story.

So Warner wants Tebow to water down his boldness. Exactly, how does one do that, Mr. Warner?

Perhaps the sad part of this episode is that Tebow is an anomaly in a professional sports industry searching for a moral compass. They take great pride in putting bad boys on superstar pedestals.

At the end of the day, though, which NFL star would you want your little boy idolizing? A dog killer? A guy who beats up his girlfriend? Someone who is communicable? Or a man who loves Jesus, helps orphans and builds hospitals for the needy?

I’ll take Tim Tebow in my huddle any day.
