Governor Sarah Palin Endorses Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate

AUSTIN—Just four days before the start of early voting in the Texas Senate primary, the Ted Cruz campaign announced the endorsement of Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd Palin.

In response to a letter from Ted Cruz, Governor Sarah Palin wrote: “We’re proud to join conservatives in Texas and throughout the nation in supporting your campaign to become the next Senator from the Lone Star State.”

“Your conservative principles, passionate defense of our Constitution and our free market system come at a time when these cornerstones of our freedom and prosperity are under attack,” Governor Palin added. “Our shared goal isn’t just to change the majority in control of the Senate, but to assure principled conservatives like you are there to fight for us.”

In January 2011, Ted Cruz filed to run for U.S. Senate based on his proven record of fighting for conservative principles and winning on a national level. He is running for the Senate to stand up and fight to defend liberty, preserve the Constitution, and stop federal overreach.

From 2003-08, Ted served as the Solicitor General of Texas, the chief lawyer for the State before the U.S. Supreme Court and all the state and federal appellate courts. Cruz was the youngest Solicitor General in the nation, the longest serving Solicitor General in Texas, and the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas.

Ted has authored over 80 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and personally argued 40 oral arguments, including 9 before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Under the leadership of Attorney General Greg Abbott, Ted defended Texas values, winning repeatedly on a national level. During Ted’s service as Solicitor General, Texas achieved an unprecedented series of landmark national victories, including successfully defending:

Ted currently serves as a Partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Houston, where he leads the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national Appellate Litigation practice. In addition, from 2004-09, he taught U.S. Supreme Court Litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law.

Prior to serving as Solicitor General, Ted served as the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, and Domestic Policy Advisor on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. In addition, Ted clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court. He was the first Hispanic ever to have clerked for the Chief Justice of the United States.

Ted has seen first-hand that America’s bedrock principle is the pursuit of freedom and opportunity. His father came to Texas from Cuba penniless at age 18, not speaking a word of English. Cruz went on to study at Princeton where, in college debate, he was named the U.S. National Speaker of the Year and the U.S. National Team of the Year (with his partner). He also won the First Place Speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debate Championships.

Lincoln, NE – Today, Senator Deb Fischer, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Nebraska, announced that she has been endorsed by former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin and her husband Todd Palin.

Sarah Palin gave a very inspiring speech at the 2012 Extraordinary Womens Conference at the BJCC in Birmingham, AL. You can tell she is an authentic Christian woman by the way she speaks God's message with authority. The women in the audience loved her, and at the end of her message, all of the worship leaders signed the back of a guitar (or mandolin) and surprised her with it. She said she would learn to play "Sweet Home Alabama" by the next time she visits us :)

Mourdock For Indiana by Sarah Palin

I join commonsense conservatives in endorsing Richard Mourdock to be the next Senator from Indiana. Conservatives of all stripes are uniting behind Richard Mourdock. In a piece at Townhall, Maggie Gallagher discusses Sarah Palin’s prescience in instinctively opposing Obama’s federal education mandates as an encroachment on state sovereignty before it was fashionable to do so:

Sarah Palin was the first to recognize the problem: By participating in President Obama’s signature education initiative, the Common Core Standards, Alaska would lose control over its own curriculum.

On May 31, 2009, then-Gov. Palin announced Alaska would adopt a “watch and wait” attitude:

“If this initiative produces useful results, Alaska will remain free to incorporate them,” Gov. Palin said, adding that “high expectations are not always created by new, mandated federal standards written on paper. They are created in the home, the community and the classroom.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to his credit, was the next to recognize a federal boondoggle when he saw one: “I will not commit Texas taxpayers to unfunded federal obligations or to the adoption of unproven, cost-prohibitive national standards and tests,” Gov. Perry wrote in a Jan. 13, 2010, letter to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

In the ensuing two years, it’s become clear that Perry and Palin — two core conservative figures whose intelligence is routinely mocked by liberal “sophisticates” — were brilliantly prescient, indeed prophetic.

Common Core Standards turn out to be like Obamacare — you don’t really know what’s in it until after you pass it and are mired in its tentacles.

Today, even more states are waking up to discover that they have lost control of both curriculum and costs for a program that is untested and unlikely to improve student performance. A February study by the Pioneer Institute conservatively estimates that Obama’s Common Core Standards will costs the states at least $16 billion — money that could be used to promote education in other ways (pioneerinstitute.org/pdf/120222_CCSSICost.pdf).

The Palin/Bolling Proposal To Lower Gas Prices

Conservatives need to do a better job of explaining how they would lower gas prices. More drilling is a great piece of the pie, but there needs to be more. Governor Sarah Palin and Eric Bolling, Fox News host of of The Five, have put together a comprehensive plan to lower gas prices and they mapped out the details in the video below….

Gov. Palin and Bolling rolled out some excellent ideas to combat skyrocketing gas prices. When President Obama was sworn into office, gas was priced at $1.85 cents a gallon. Clearly, the President’s energy policy has been an abject failure with gas prices hovering close to $4.00 a gallon.

This show contains a comprehensive conservative means to lower gas prices. Conservatives need to make a strong case to the American people that the solution to high prices at the pump is a conservative solution. Get the government out of the business of hiking gas prices through wrong headed government policies. As usual, government has caused many of the problems leading to a massive hike in gas prices and President Obama has exacerbated the problem….

Another problem identified by Gov. Palin’s segment on the Fox broadcast is that there are large swaths of the United States off limits to drilling. Production is up on private and state properties, yet on federally controlled lands, production is not where it needs to be. Gov. Palin made the point that in Alaska is loaded with resources that are untapped.

The political action committee for the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate plunked down $4,500 to reserve space at Channelside Bay Plaza for the big political event.

The expense was listed in required filings submitted Wednesday to the Federal Election Commission.

But the space at Channelside — a short walk from the Forum — will allow her an independent platform away from the formal event and access to some of the 15,000 journalists expected to cover the convention. More
