Four OU Football Players Suspended Indefinitely

NORMAN, Oklahoma - Four Oklahoma football players won't be on the team for the start of the 2012-13 season.
OU head coach Bob Stoops announced Wednesday night that Jaz Reynolds, Trey Franks, Kameel Jackson and Quentin Hayes have been suspended from the team indefinitely.

All four student-athletes are suspended for violating team rules.

The details of the suspensions have not been released but News 9 will update as soon as more details become available.

Reynolds, Franks and Jackson are all wide receivers that started various games for the Sooners in 2011. More

Portable meth lab explodes in Oklahoma man's pants. VIDEO

OKMULGEE COUNTY, Okla. -- A portable meth lab exploded in an Oklahoma man's pants Friday during a scuffle with a state trooper.

David Williams ran from a police officer who noticed a chemical smell as he was issuing a speeding ticket to the driver of the SUV Williams was a passenger in, KOTV reported.

The officer caught up with Williams and in the ensuing struggle, an "active meth lab" he had been hiding in his pants burst, Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Shiloh Hall told the station.

Police closed 221st Street in Okmulgee County, about 90 miles (150km) east of Oklahoma City, to clean up the scene.

Although meth was dripping down Williams' leg, he was uninjured. He was arrested on a complaint of manufacturing a controlled and dangerous substance.

Oklahoma town evacuated over propane leak

MEDFORD, Okla. – The town of Medford in northern Oklahoma is evacuating because of a propane leak at a hydrocarbon plant.

The evacuation advisory is for 3 p.m. for the town of nearly 1,000, about 120 miles north of Oklahoma City.

A spokesman for the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma says the evacuation was prompted because windy weather was blowing the propane toward the town.

A shelter will open in nearby Wakita, and Red Cross spokesman Rusty Surette says residents should bring clothes, bedding, medication and identification.

The leak started Tuesday night at the ONEOK (WUHN'-ohk) plant, and it's shut down U.S. Highway 81 in Medford.

Relax — the sky is not falling.

A spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration said late tonight that the flying fireball in the sky was most likely a meteor.

“Given that it was seen by a large number of people across so many miles makes it likely it was a meteor or a piece of space junk, but most likely a meteor,” said spokesman Lynn Lunsford with the FAA’s Southwest region office.

The administration has received reports from as far north as Oklahoma to as far south as Houston, Lunsford said.

Earlier: Possible meteor sightings have been reported in Texas and Oklahoma this evening, according to news reports.

Multiple reports of sightings have come in to officials from across Travis County, including Pflugerville, Manor and Bee Cave, but so far deputies have not found any damage, according to the Travis County sheriff’s office.

One caller from Manor reported seeing an object with flying sparks fall from the sky for about eight seconds, the office reported.

TV stations in Waco and Oklahoma City both quoted the Federal Aviation Administration as saying the object was a meteor.

In Austin, KVUE meteorologist Mark Murray noted on Twitter that “These fireballs look a lot closer than they really are.”

Court sets back Oklahoma's ban on Islamic law

(Reuters) - An Oklahoma initiative that would prevent its courts from considering Islamic law in deciding cases likely discriminates against religion, a federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday, upholding an injunction against it.

A three-member panel of the Denver-based U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that the rights of plaintiff Muneer Awad, a Muslim man living in Oklahoma City, likely would be violated if the ban on Sharia law takes effect.

The decision upholds the ruling of a lower federal court.

"While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out ... the public has a more profound and long-term interest in upholding an individual's constitutional rights," the appeals court said in a 37-page written decision.

The Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations welcomed the ruling, calling it "a victory for the Constitution and for the right of all Americans to freely practice their faith."

Oklahoma's "Save Our State Amendment," which was approved by 70 percent of state voters in 2010, bars Oklahoma state courts from considering or using Sharia law.

The lawsuit challenging the measure was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of Awad, who is director of the Oklahoma chapter of CAIR.

A federal judge in Oklahoma City issued a court order in November of 2010 barring the measure from taking effect while the case is under review, finding a substantial likelihood that Awad would prevail on the merits.

The Council said the Oklahoma amendment is among 20 similar proposed laws introduced in state legislatures nationwide.

Defenders of the amendment say they want to prevent foreign laws in general, and Islamic law, also known as Sharia, in particular from overriding state or U.S. laws.

But foes of the Oklahoma measure, also called State Question 755, have argued that it stigmatizes Islam and its adherents and violates the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment prohibition against the government favoring one religion over another.

Opponents also say it could nullify wills or legal contracts between Muslims because they incorporate by reference specific elements of Islamic prophetic traditions.

WTF ??? Sarah Mckinley the Mother who shot intruder faces national criticism !!!

BLANCHARD, Okla. -- Sarah Mckinley is responding to rumors circulating about a recent home invasion where she shot and killed 24-year-old Justin Martin. Mckinley says Martin and Dustin Stewart came to her home trying to get inside.


Some blogs lit up with people saying there is more to the story, like Mckinley had an intimate relationship with Martin and he was actually the father of the child, not her deceased husband.


Mckinley says, "I do not know Justin. I've seen him maybe three times before and for short encounters. I can prove who my son's father is, if I need to do that, I can get a DNA test or take a lie detector test." 


Her deceased husband, Kenny Mckinley, is on the birth certificate. 


Some went so far as to suggest Mckinley is not the innocent widower and single mother she as she has been portrayed.


"This is a national story and people will say things and have an opinion. I understand that. A lot of it is from his family and friends (of Martin) and of course they are going to stick up for him," she said.

John Rich Reaching Out to Young Oklahoma Mother Sarah McKinley Who Shot and Killed Intruder !!!

On New Year’s Eve, an 18-year-old Oklahoma mother shot and killed an intruder to protect her 3-month-old baby, after she had just lost her husband to cancer on Christmas day. Now, John Rich of Big and Rich is on a mission to find this young mother and give her some much-needed help.

“I’d like to find this woman who shot the intruder,” he said via Twitter. “Her husband died from cancer on Christmas day and she has a newborn. How do we find her?” In a later tweet, he said,” Thx for helping me find this young woman. Can’t imagine how she feels. 18 yrs old, baby is 3 months, husband just passed. Now this? 2MUCH.”


Though Rich still hasn’t been able to secure the woman’s direct contact, he’s confident that he will be able to find and help her.


The young woman, Sarah McKinley of Oklahoma City, says a man named Justin Martin showed up at her husband’s funeral claiming to be a neighbor. But when he showed up at her home on New Year’s Eve with another man, Dustin Stewart, he was armed with a 12-inch hunting knife and attempting to break down her locked doors.


In a desperate attempt to protect her infant, McKinley grabbed a 12 gauge and a pistol and dialed 911, asking a dispatcher if it was OK to shoot Martin if he got into the house. According to reports from ABC News, the dispatcher said, “I can’t tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby.”


Moments later, Martin kicked down the door and ran at McKinley with a knife, but the young mother shot and killed him before he could inflict harm on her or the baby. Police have deemed this a justified shooting because Martin was an unauthorized person in someone else’s home. And while McKinley told reporters that she didn’t want to do it, she said she knew it was going to be the intruder or her son, and she wasn’t going to allow the latter to occur.


Rich is keeping his Twitter fans updated, promising, “I’ll let you know the plan to help her once we see what her situation is. I’m ON IT.”

Teen Mom Sarah McKinley Calls 9-1-1, Then Shoots Intruder to Protect Her Baby

A teenage mom took action recently when an intruder broke into her Oklahoma home. Sarah McKinley shot and killed the man after calling 911 and speaking to a dispatcher who, upon being asked by McKinley if she should shoot the suspect, answered that she should do whatever necessary to ‘protect her baby.’ McKinley says she did just that.

According to the 18-year-old’s account, two men began beating on her front door, prompting McKinley to take her three-month-old baby and lock herself in a room with a gun before calling emergency dispatch.

When the intruders finally got through the door, the mom had no more time left to wait for police and made a judgment call.

“I waited ’til he came in the door, and when he did I shot him. I didn’t know what else to do … I wanted [the police] to hurry and get here before I had to do it, but they didn’t get here quick enough,” she said.

Oklahoma Agents To Crack Down On Drunks Inside BARS !!!

TULSA, Oklahoma - New Year's weekend is big time for parties. Lots of people will go to bars to ring in the New Year. That's why Tulsa officers, state troopers and Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission (ABLE) agents will be out in force, looking for drunks - and not just on the roads.
Few people realize it's against the law to be drunk inside a bar, but it is. That's why officers are not just going to be patrolling the streets looking for drunk drivers, they're also going to be inside bars and in the parking lots, arresting people before they ever have a chance to get behind the wheel.


In Tulsa, for example, more than two dozen officers will be looking for drunks who are driving or might drive.


"When it comes to DUIs on the streets, over 50 percent of those arrested for DUI come from a bar," said Erik Smoot of ABLE.


That's why there will be a special emphasis on bars.

Woman caught making meth inside Tulsa Walmart !!!

Tulsa police arrest a woman for mixing chemicals to make meth inside a south Tulsa Walmart on Thursday.

Elizabeth Alisha Greta Halfmoon, 45, also known to go by Alisha Halfmoon, was arrested for endeavoring to manufacture meth at the 81st and Lewis store.

Police say surveillance video shows Halfmoon had been in the store since noon. Six hours later security noticed she was acting suspicious, so they called Tulsa police.

Responding officers say she claimed she was "too broke to buy the chemicals."

“She didn’t have the money to make the purchases of the chemicals that were needed so she was taking what was needed in the bottle,” says Officer David Shelby.

Shoppers inside the store had no idea someone was cooking meth.

“This is a family store,” says Jessica Fuentes, who also had her 1-year-old son inside the store. “People need to start thinking. If she has family she needs to think about her family. If you are broke. It’s just wrong."

”When I saw her she had just finished mixing sulfuric acid with starter fluid in a bottle,” says Officer Shelby.

They immediately got her, and the ingredients, out of the store before any of the shoppers got hurt.

No one was evacuated.

“Something could have happened, something could have blown up in there,” says shopper Jonathan Tary.

“When firefighters were on the scene she made statements to them that is what she was doing, she was attempting to obtain these chemicals and was in the process of trying to manufacture meth. However, she said she was not very good at it,” says Shelby.

A responding officer didn’t know the bottle was active. As he was discarding the bottle the chemicals burned through the bottle and through his gloves.

He was treated for chemical burns on his hands and is okay.

Police say they arrested Halfmoon just last month in a smurf sting. Smurfs are known among police as meth cooks or recruits who purchase pseudoephedrine to make meth. The medication is often found in cold and allergy medicines and is the main ingredient needed to make meth.

Jail records show she was booked on November 6 and released from jail on those charges on December 6.

Records show she received a deferred sentence and bonded out on $7,500.

In this case her bond has been set at $100,000 and her arraignment is set for December 16th.

In October, Glenn Reese was arrested at that same Walmart with a backpack containing what police called an active meth lab. Drainage ditches and tunnels in that area have been a common place for meth making and using, according to Tulsa police.

10 Oklahoma City "OWS" Members Arrested In Del City Walmart

DEL CITY, Okla. -- Ten members of the Occupy OKC movement are facing charges of disorderly conduct after being arrested inside a Del City Walmart early Friday morning.

According to Del City police, officers working off-duty security at Walmart called for backup when members of the Occupy movement began chanting and yelling near the back of the store.

A video posted by Occupy OKC shows Walmart employees asking the protesters to leave, who begin walking toward the front of the store. Then, the video shows a Del City officer running toward a protester. Witnesses said officers tackled and handcuffed the protesters.

Police arrested the protesters and transported them to the Del City police department. All 10 are facing charges of disorderly conduct. One person faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

"I think this was clearly excessive force," said Mark Faulk, one of the protesters who was arrested. "I think it was very clear we were compliant with every single thing they asked of us."

Del City police said they are still reviewing the specifics of what happened inside the store, but the case will now make its way through the court system.

The protesters have hired an attorney who plans to fight the charges and see if the officers committed any civil rights violations.

"It’s a pretty vague charge," said Brittany Novotny, who's representing Occupy OKC. "I don’t think these folks are guilty of disorderly conduct. They were asked to leave by store personnel. They tried to do so and, at that point, a couple of them were tackled and arrested."

According to Occupy OKC, activists held similar protests inside two other metro Walmarts, but did not have any confrontation with police.

Oklahoma Hit With 10 Aftershocks Following 5.6-Magnitude Earthquake

Earthquake buckled highway, cracked buildings, but left residents virtually unscathed.

SPARKS, Okla. –  Oklahoma residents more accustomed to tornadoes than earthquakes have been shaken by weekend temblors that cracked buildings, buckled a highway and rattled nerves. One quake late Saturday was the state's strongest ever and jolted a college football stadium 50 miles away.

It was followed by 10 aftershocks by midmorning Sunday. But although homes and other buildings cracked and suffered minor damage, there were no reports of severe injuries or major devastation.

Saturday night's earthquake jolted Oklahoma State University's stadium shortly after the No. 3 Cowboys defeated No. 17 Kansas State.

"That shook up the place, had a lot of people nervous," Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon said. "Yeah, it was pretty strong."

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake was Oklahoma's strongest on record, said Jessica Turner, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Centered near Sparks, 44 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, it could be felt throughout the state and in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, northern Texas and some parts of Illinois and Wisconsin. It followed a magnitude 4.7 quake early Saturday that was felt from Texas to Missouri.

The aftershocks included two that were magnitude 4.0, one about 4 a.m. Sunday and one about 9 a.m., USGS said. The smallest aftershock it recorded was magnitude 2.7. USGS seismologist Paul Earle in Golden, Colo., said the aftershocks will likely continue for several days and could continue for months.

Oklahoma typically has about 50 earthquakes a year, and 57 tornadoes, but a burst of quakes east of Oklahoma City has contributed to a sharp increase. Researchers said 1,047 quakes shook Oklahoma last year, prompting them to install seismographs in the area. The reason for the increase isn't known, and Turner said there was no immediate explanation for the weekend spurt in seismic activity.

One quake late Saturday was the state's strongest ever and jolted a college football stadium 50 miles away and was followed early Sunday by a jarring aftershock.

There were no reports in the hours after the quakes of any severe injuries or major devastation.

"That shook up the place, had a lot of people nervous," Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon said of the late Saturday quake, the strongest of a series of quakes. "Yeah, it was pretty strong."

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake Saturday night was centered near Sparks, 44 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, and could be felt throughout the state and in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, northern Texas and some parts of Illinois and Wisconsin, said geophysicist Jessica Turner at the U.S. Geological Survey. A magnitude 4.7 quake early Saturday was felt from Texas to Missouri.

Turner told The Associated Press that the subsequent magnitude 4.0 quake that struck at 3:39 a.m. Sunday was an aftershock centered some 36 miles east of Oklahoma City in the same region. Like Saturday night's quake, she said it was another shallow quake occurring about 3 miles underground, but experts had no immediate explanation for the spurt in seismic activity.

Following the quakes or numerous small aftershocks, several homeowners and businesses reported cracked walls, fallen knickknacks and other minor damage. But in Shawnee, the fire department said one spire on the administration building at St. Gregory University had been damaged and another one was leaning, according to KWTV in Oklahoma City.

An emergency manager in Lincoln County near the epicenter said U.S. 62, a two-lane highway that meanders through rolling landscape between Oklahoma City and the Arkansas state line, crumpled in places when the stronger quake struck Saturday night. Other reports Sunday were sketchy and mentioned cracks in some buildings and a chimney toppled.

"Earthquake damage in Oklahoma. That's an anomaly right there," Todd McKinsey of Moore told The Oklahoman newspaper after the magnitude 5.6 temblor centered 50 miles away left him with cracked drywall.

Oklahoma typically has about 50 earthquakes a year, and 57 tornadoes, but a swarm of quakes east of Oklahoma City contributed to a sharp increase in the number of temblors.
