If your wife or girlfriend is a dentist, you can breathe easy when you say “Aah”: The story of a crazy Polish dentist who pulled out all her ex-boyfriend’s teeth while he was under anesthesia turns out to have been a hoax.
The tall tale of Marek Olszewski and his jilted lover Anna Mackowiak made its way around the Internet last week after it was first reported by the Daily Mail in London, and picked up by several American news outlets, including The Daily Caller.
The completely false story went like this: Olszewski went to see Mackowiak — whom he had recently dumped — for a toothache. Once she got hold of some anesthesia, however, she just couldn’t help herself from pulling out every pearly-white in his mouth.
“I tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions,” Mackowiak supposedly told the Daily Mail. “But when I saw him lying there I just thought, ‘What a bastard.’”
“When I got home I looked in the mirror and couldn’t fucking believe it,” we now know Olszewski never actually said. ”The bitch had emptied my mouth.”
MSNBC uncovered hoax by calling the police in Warsaw, Poland who were — again, according to the story — reportedly investigating Mackowiak for medical malpractice. Law enforcement officials there said there was no record of the case, and Poland’s Chamber of Physicians and Dentists could find no such dentist as Mackowiak on the books.
