Michelle Duggar miscarried her unborn daughter on Sunday evening, four days after discovering during a routine prenatal appointment that there was no longer a heart beat.
The family named the baby girl Jubilee Shalom and held a private family service at their home last night. They are planning another memorial service for loved ones and close friends to take place on Wednesday, December 14.
Jim Bob Duggar revealed that his wife was admitted to their local hospital after the miscarriage. Because she was feeling light-headed, her doctor opted to keep the 45-year old mother overnight for observation. She was expected to be released some time on Monday.
Jim Bob said, “We have had many tears today. We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, emails and outpouring of love.”
While the family is grieving, they took time to celebrate the second birthday of Josie Brooklyn on Saturday.
The micro-premie arrived 15 weeks early, weighing 1 lb 6 oz. in December 2009. Duggar acknowledged, “We have been looking forward to this birthday because it is a milestone for her. It is wonderful that she is with us and doing so well.”
The Arkansas couple have 19 living children. Oldest son Josh is married to Anna and they have a daughter and son, the first Duggar grandchildren.
