Researchers at NASA have found a planet — the Kepler 22-B –- which was been confirmed as the first discovery of its kind: an alien world with Earth-like temperatures, which scientists are saying could actually be a water world.
Corey Powell, Discover Magazine’s editor-in-chief, told Bill Hemmer that the “planet” they care calling the Kepler 22-B is 600 light years away and that NASA has calculated that it would take 22 million years to travel there on a space shuttle from Earth.
“This is a planet that is around the right kind of star, the right size, the right distance. This is a planet that has all the conditions for life; it has all the conditions to be like Earth. Water is the real key thing,” said Powell. “In the right temperature for water, that’s a place where you have all the ingredients; everything’s in place.”
